John Battison

John is a digital artist. Subject matter varies considerably -- with realistic local images at one end of the scale, and abstracts at the other.  He recently completed a series of seventeen pictures of Totnes Castle, inspired by the Japanese printmaker Hokusai who produced 36 views of Mount Fuji. In digital art, an amazing array of resources and techniques is available allowing tremendous freedom of expression, probably even more so than with paint.

His prints are made in strictly limited editions and, with his output technique, prints can be made to virtually any size: where various sizes are made, they are all part of the edition. Prints are made using archival ink on an acid free watercolour paper to ensure long life.

A recent development has seen John venturing into the realms of ‘artist’s books’. Bound in either leather or card, they are made up of sets of prints of pictures based on a particular subject.

John says “Please call or email me if you would like to discuss any aspect of my work”
