Click on image to view artists gallery Weaving has been a constant theme in my life, I moved from making fabrics to making baskets twenty four years ago. My forms are developed from studying traditional techniques and using them in my own way. Over the years I have worked with and learned from ‘basketry heroes’ from around the world. I work mainly with willow and hedgerow materials and like to combine these with cleft wood to create a strong texture and robust structure. All the natural materials that I use are harvested locally in Devon, I have planted several willow beds that provide a resource of different bark colours, habits and qualities. I am a member of the Devon Guild of Craftsmen. My book ‘Cane, rush and willow, weaving with natural materials’ is published by Batsford.
